Healthcare access in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Safe Access Network is a Las Vegas nonprofit working to make healthcare easier to reach for the families, seniors, students, and shift workers who call the valley home.
Las Vegas is a city that runs around the clock, and healthcare rarely runs on the same schedule. Hospitality, warehouse, construction, and gig workers often carry coverage that changes with the season, or no coverage at all, and appointments compete with shifts that start when most clinics close.
Nevada has spent years near the bottom of national rankings for primary care physicians per resident, which means longer waits, longer drives, and a system that assumes you already know how to navigate it. Safe Access Network exists to shorten that distance, starting with a conversation instead of a form.
We work throughout the Las Vegas Valley from our office on Park Run Drive in northwest Las Vegas, and our Community Health Connect program brings providers, community organizations, and neighbors together in the neighborhoods where people already gather.
Healthcare barriers in Las Vegas
What makes care harder to reach here.
Shift work and clinic hours
Hospitality and 24-hour service schedules rarely line up with weekday appointment windows, so care gets postponed until it becomes urgent.
Coverage that changes
Seasonal employment and gig work mean coverage can shift several times a year, leaving people unsure what they qualify for today.
Language and trust
Las Vegas is one of the most diverse metros in the country. Information that only exists in English, or only on a website, does not reach everyone.
Distance from primary care
With a limited primary care workforce statewide, emergency departments become the default entry point for problems a clinic could have handled earlier.
